Fresh Chichicate Herb (Urera baccifera) – Cut Only
Chichicate, also known as Jamo or Ortiga Brava, is a fresh botanical traditionally used in Afro-Caribbean spiritual practices. In some religious houses it is associated with Egun and may be selected for cleansing work, spiritual baths and other traditional preparations.

What Is Chichicate?
Chichicate is identified botanically as Urera baccifera, a tropical shrub in the nettle family. Its broad, deeply textured leaves have pronounced veins and irregularly toothed margins. The leaves and stems can bear stinging hairs that may irritate the skin.

Depending on the customs of the religious house, fresh Chichicate leaves and stems may be selected for:
